Join our Renter Working Group and help support renters of all incomes and abilities across Dallas.

The Dallas Housing Coalition’s Renter Working Group emerged from our Resident Housing Summit in November 2025 in response to strong attendee interest in engaging renters directly in our housing advocacy and policy work. Since then, the Working Group has elected Co-Chairs and meets monthly to advance renter-focused goals and initiatives.

Towards the beginning of 2026, the Renter Working Group identified Vickery Meadow, in Dallas City Council District 13, as its initial focus area for outreach, education, and advocacy. The area was selected because of high eviction rates, concerns about the age and condition of some apartment communities, and rising rents that are placing increasing pressure on renters.

Membership in the Dallas Housing Coalition is not required to join our Renters Working Group.

Working Group Goals

  • Conduct outreach and education to renters in Vickery Meadow about housing resources and opportunities to engage local housing policy and programming..

  • Build relationships with the Vickery Meadow nonprofit community to better coordinate and connect renters with available resources and services.

  • Promote safe, quality housing and housing stability for renters across Dallas.

  • Elevate renter voices in conversations about zoning, development, affordability, and neighborhood change.
